Craig was among more than 1500 athletes who raced through his hometown’s iconic landmarks as part of Tri Liverpool, the biggest triathlon event in the country.
He lined up against established triathletes such as Alex Lawton, Alex Foster and James Hockin for the event, which involves swimming, cycling, and running in immediate succession over long distances.
Craig, in the best shape of his life and with a number of challenging events including the Total Warrior Challenge under his belt, participated in the Sprint, which consisted of a 750m-swim, a 20km bike ride and a 5km run – one after the other!
Most people would baulk at undergoing an event that requires so much physical exertion, but Craig not only stepped up to the plate but performed excellently, finishing in under 1 hour 40 minutes and ranking in the top 30 for his age range.
Liverpool has hosted the British Triathlon Championships as part of the event since 2013, and it’s gone from strength to strength with each passing edition, with national celebrities such as Craig and Hollyoaks star Nikki Sanderson taking part.
