Craig took a trip to Portsmouth on Thursday 12th December to officially open fantastic new swimming facilities at Redwood Park Primary School in Cosham in the city. The project, understood to have cost almost £300,000, also involved the upgrading of existing, outdated amenities that had been in decay for some time, and the installation of brand new disabled access.
The new facilities will help greatly in the school’s aim of getting every child swimming and all the kids are excited about making a big splash. For too long, the old, decrepit pool made swimming there an unpleasant experience for them.
The project was the brainchild of Checkatrade founder, Kevin Byrne, who visited the school and was appalled by the state of the showers and toilets in particular. He resolved to run an unbelievable 12 marathons in 12 months to raise cash to make the necessary improvements, and a year later, after an enormous amount of hard graft on his part, construction work was ready to begin.
Kevin is a quite rightly a very proud man today!
