The annual Liverpool Marathon is due to take place in October 2012 with Craig as the brand ambassador for another year. Prior to this event there is set to be a 10K race taking place on 10th June 2012 with Chris Akabusi appearing to launch the race.
The marathon is thought to have begun in 1927, but was interrupted by the outbreak of the war to return in 1948 with estimated crowds of 300,000 watching the run unfold. In 1961 Ron Hill made his debut running at this distance and to this very day the marathon has raised millions of pounds for charities in and out of Liverpool. Charities fortunate enough to be supported have included Mancap, The Soldiers' Charity and Cancer Research UK.
Although the full marathon is not until October, this forthcoming Saturday 12th May, a women's 10K is due to take place.
